Cass Lake Area Food Shelf is a non-profit organization  established in 2013 as a 501(c)(3), when we realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently.

 

Our food pantry program services all people regardless of income, race, color, nationality, religious belief, gender, or sex. You do not have to be enrolled with the Tribe to access our services.

Job Description

Executive Director

Cass Lake Area Food Shelf

10-20 hours weekly; flexible hours

Salary: To be determined

 

Position Summary

 

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall management and operation of the

food shelf, ensuring that it effectively serves the community's needs. The ED reports to the

Board of Directors and works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. **Leadership and Management:

 

- Provide visionary leadership to the organization.

- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.

- Supervise and support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work

environment.

 

2. Program Development and Implementation:

 

- Develop and implement programs that align with the organization's mission and goals.

- Ensure the food shelf is stocked with adequate supplies and that food distribution is

managed effectively.

- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.

- Promote Fund Raising Events

 

3. Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

  • Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor relations, and community events.

  • Ensure financial stability and accountability through sound financial practices.

 

4. Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to the community, and other stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers.

  • Advocate for the needs of the food shelf and its clients within the community.

  • Media – Any communication related to the press must be approved by the Board of Directors before being published.


5. Board Relations:
 

    - Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans.

    - Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance and key issues.

    - Support the Board in its governance and fundraising roles.

6. Qualifications:
 

- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Business Administration).

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization.

- Strong organizational, financial management, and fundraising skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Passion for the mission of the food shelf and a commitment to serving the community.

- Experienced in working with diverse cultures.

- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Business Administr
